Tall Ships Clarendon Dock
The mural features a vibrant maritime theme centred on the idea of "Tall Ships." It covers a significant portion of the building wall, with two distinct sections.
Left Section:
At the top, there is bold text that reads "ROTTERDAM BAR" in capital letters, with the name "JOSEPH DONNELLY" beneath it. This text is painted on the white surface of what appears to be the upper section of the building façade.
Below this, the mural transitions into a sea-inspired scene. A dramatic depiction of powerful, foamy ocean waves fills the bottom half of the wall. These waves appear turbulent and dynamic, with swirling patterns of white and blue.
In the corner, there's the text "Belfast Harbour" written in a stylized font, linking the mural to its maritime location.
Right Section:
The focal point of the right side is a stylized tall ship. The ship’s hull, painted in shades of brown, cuts through the crashing waves, with its sails depicted as lines and spars emerging from the water.
Above the ship, the words "TALL SHIPS" are written in large, weathered gold letters with a rope crossing through them, enhancing the nautical theme of the mural.
The ship appears as if it's navigating through the sea, blending into the motion of the waves on both sides of the mural.
The mural integrates local heritage, as seen with the reference to "Belfast Harbour," and it evokes a strong sense of history with the mention of "Tall Ships," likely recalling Belfast's shipbuilding past and its connection to maritime trade. The combination of water, the ship, and bold text makes the mural both a tribute to the sea and a striking piece of street art.
